Mao Is Victim Of History He Made MacLeish

Roderick MacLeish, News Commentator for Westinghouse, discussed the China conflict in a Monday assembly. He traced the split between technicians and ideologists from the 1921 Communist Party founding to Mao’s 1949 rise, noting failed early reforms, the Hundred Flowers incident, and Mao’s purge of critics. He warned the 1960s struggle reflects a perennial clash between technology and ideology, with technicians pressing for compromise while Mao clings to Marxist theory. The Hanover Institute will host a China lecture by Dr. Han Su Yin on March 1 titled Life on Mainland China.
