Unusual Minstrel Talent Shines at YMCA Show
The YMCA annual program in Hanover drew a large crowd and praise for both old stars and new talent. End men Earl Swann and William Johnson led the act with genuine minstrel flair while Virgil Whittaker and others delivered solos in multiple languages. The second part featured four dusky-hued performers with songs and dances including a notable clog dance. The evening proved worth the admission and Madena University will host a tournament for area high school basketball teams as Earlham’s senior class won the inter-class series.
