Rolling River Board Adopts Bus Transport for Minnedosa Area Students
The Rolling River School Division reports 23 students in vocational programs at Crocus Plains Regional School Brandon, up four from last year, with seven from Douglas, two from Forrest, five from Rapid City, eight from Minnedosa and one from Erickson. A bus service will replace private cars to serve Minnedosa Rapid City students. The board accepted the resignation of Maintenance Supervisor Jim Kingdon and set up a trustees committee to review applications and interview. The education committee reviewed Bill 58 and will forward a brief to the Department of Education, noting concerns on special services, funding, and agency input. An Outdoor Education program for Erickson Collegiate is approved for Sept 28–30 in the Lake Audy-Kinis Creek area. An overseas teaching position application with the Department of National Defence was approved. Opening day enrolment across Rolling River Division totals 2902, down 52 since June, with 1868 elementary and 1034 collegiate students, and a total teaching staff of 155.5. The board also approved an Elton municipal water piping agreement for Elton Collegiate and Forrest Elementary and will apply for a capital grant. Forrest residents form a Local Improvement District for water distribution.
