The Bird Tail River Fall Festival runs November 1–3 at Shoal Lake with events in speech reading drama folk and square dancing and gymnastics. Adjudicators include Mrs Lorraine Scott for speech drama and Mrs Dorothy Sangster for dance gymnastics.

Eden School Cairn Unveiled at Eden School Site
The Eden School Cairn was dedicated Sunday at 1 30 p m near Oakner with about 150 attendees. Former students received silk flowers, while Mrs E A Dixon and Miss McPherson Fraser were honored with bouquets and speeches honored Lorne Brandon and Harold Brown for initiating the cairn project.

Condo Appointment Extended One Year
Education Minister Keith Cosens extended the term of W. J. Condo as Universities Grants Commission chairman on a post-retirement basis through October 1979. Condo has led the commission since 1975 and has long served in Manitoba university administration and health services roles.

Young People Meet at Ulrichs Then Church
A youth group met weekly at Mr and Mrs Ulrichs in Hamiota with Salvation talk on September 1. September 8 featured charades and devotion before a visit to Strathclair Baptist Church. Elections named James Beck President Jim Harvey Vice President and Lori Stevenson Secretary Treasurer. September 15 saw a Salt Lake canoe trip and a can roast with devotion by Rose Theissen before Bible scene acting at the Ulrichs. Next meeting set for September 22 at Hamiota Pentecostal Church.
