Probationary Licences Begin In Manitoba Traffic Reform
Manitoba will start issuing probationary driver licences on October 5 under changes to the Highway Traffic Act. New licences will bear the word probationary for 12 months, during which any moving violation carries automatic suspension up to a year. If no violations occur, drivers may request a permanent licence at no cost.

New Site Sought for Ham iota Post Office
Public works officials from Win nineg have met with the Ham iota town council to choose a site for a new post office to be built by 1971. Surveys over three years assessed vacant lots in the business area for ownership and cost. The council wants the post office near the current Fourth Street site, with several Fourth Street sites and one Third Street option under consideration.

Manitoba Retread Tires Must Be Labeled
Manitoba requires all retreaded and recapped tires sold or offered for sale to carry the words retread or recap. The label must be painted in white on the tire with letters at least a quarter inch high, and the amendment to the Highway Traffic Act took effect September 1.
