Arrow River to get expanded postal service and boxes
Canada Post expands service for Decker and Arrow River residents. Decker moves to Community Mail Boxes across from the post office with 24 hour access and five day outgoing mail. Arrow River will host a Retail Postal Outlet starting November 1 1989, moving to Community Mail Boxes in spring 1990 with its own postal code and services including Priority Post.

Trappers get royalty cut to help market slump
Premier Gary Filmon and Natural Resources Minister Harry Enns announced a drop in government royalty rates on wild furs. Rates will range from five cents for ermine to five dollars for lynx, about half of last year. The move aims to aid trappers hard hit by low prices and lost trapping grounds from fires.

Hamiota approves new handi transit rates
At a recent Hamiota Handi Transit meeting the committee approved new rates effective September 1 1989. One way in town costs 1.00 and return 2.00. Village or RM residents pay 22 per km. non mobility disadvantaged riders may provide a qualified driver. Outside district trips charge a 1.00 pickup fee plus .62 per loaded km. Users must supply their own attendant if assistance is needed.
