Hamiota hosts Southwest A Region W I meeting 1985
The Southwest A Region Women's Institute held its full board meeting in Hamiota on September 10 1985. Joyce Linner opened the session with a thought by Mary Stewart and 17 members from 13 institutes attended. Treasurers report showed about 1300 dollars in balance and plans for a 1986 quilt raffle. Edges included resignations, replacements to be elected in 1986, new committee convenors, and notes on provincial events and World War II era programs.

Waskada pipeline and Omega Gas Plant open in Manitoba
Manitoba officials announce two facilities at Waskada oil field, the Waskada Cramer Pipeline linking to Interprovincial system and the Omega Waskada Gas Liquids Recovery Plant. The 90 km pipeline carries about 1700 cubic metres daily. the plant processes over 84 000 cubic metres of gas daily and recovers propane butane and condensates.
