Local residents plan educations travels and events

Larry Smith and Murray Zuk head to Brandon for college while Gail Bailey Evelyn Dixon and Gayle Clark depart for Normal School. Mr and Mrs Bob Watt visit Hamiota with Bob transferring to Deloraine. Nan Emerson of Winnipeg visits J Chaplin family. W A notes cover a Thursday meeting with Mrs Williams presiding and a canvass for donations to end October. Regina hosts the 40th annual WNA convention next year with 19 weeklies over 100 years old. Vancouver is next expected site.

Tesar ski elected president at local meeting

Mr Tesarski was unanimously elected president at a Lenore Kenton Harding Local meeting held September 9 at Kenton School. Other officers elected include Mr Reynolds as vice president Mrs Vance as secretary and Miss D English as public relations officer. The November meeting will be at Lenore Manitoba.

Children’s Aid Society Moves to New Building

The board of the Children’s Aid Society held its first fall meeting in the new premises. They reviewed staff appointments, committee reports, and office needs from the move. Executive Director Mrs Riesberry described varied sources of case referrals including neighbors and police directing abandoned children to the Society. A committee was formed to plan the official opening and the new space allows private interviews and less clutter for more efficient work.

Hamiota 4-H Garden Club Achieves at Year End

The Hamiota 4-H Garden Club held its annual achievement on September 11 with sixteen members displaying vegetables. Faye Pollock presented a year in review, a rally was noted, Reverend Clark judged displays, slides from the rally were shown, and a presentation to club leader Mrs Pollock was made. The club praised attendees and expressed hope for two more meetings before reorganizing for next year.
