Post Office moves to Crown Corporation under new legislation
Charlie Mayer notes federal reform to convert the Post Office into a Crown Corporation. Despite rate hikes from 1968 to 1979 and automation, deficits rose from 67 million to over 559 million as staff nearly doubled.
