Move Clocks Back One Hour In Manitoba

Manitoba residents set clocks back one hour as standard time returns this Sunday October 31 under the Official Time Act of 1967. Daylight saving ends at 3 a.m. when clocks revert to 2 a.m. across the province for the six month period.

Halloween safety tips from Canada Safety Council urge caution

The Canada Safety Council offers advice for parents adults and children for Halloween. Parents should ensure sight lines use makeup instead of masks and add reflective tape to costumes. Adults should light homes and have block parents display signs. Children should check foods at home walk with a buddy carry a flashlight and stay in flame proof costumes knee length.

Birdtail River Festival comes to Strathclair with many events

The Birdtail River Festival will be held in Strathclair on November 3 4 5 with a final Friday concert. Three speech sessions on Wednesday and two on Thursday will be judged by Linda McDowell of Winnipeg, noted for boosting Manitoba school debating. Folk and square dancing and gymnastics will be judged by Jim Belford of the University of Manitoba. Observers welcome.

Ladies Club Meeting Opens Fall Season in CHUMAH

The first fall meeting held at Dorothy Amy's home on October 6 drew 16 members. President Marlene Andrew led a brief business period as Janelle Houck reported the treasurer’s figures. The Friendship Committee sent cards fruit plates and flowers to sick and bereaved families.

OES Meet Discusses Banquet and Clinic Plans

The Shoal Lake Royal York Chapter No 30 OES held a small regular meeting on October 12 with lively discussion. They will cater the Arabian Horse Association annual meeting banquet and sponsor a Blood Pressure Clinic soon. Special thanks were given for Cancer Pads donations. more material is needed and notices will follow for next month’s meeting.
