Women's Institute South West A Mini School Held at Rivers and Basswood
The South West District A held a Mini School at Rivers on Oct 26 and Basswood on Oct 27 with workshops on diets nutrition and Crewel Embroidery. Mrs Della Radcliffe led the nutrition session and Crewel Embroidery display impressed attendees. Mrs Myrtle White and Mrs Dorothy Finkbeiner reported on the Charlottetown PEI National Convention with films and commentary. District President Mrs Georgina Hyndman presided. The group sponsors UNESCO Gift Coupon No 569 to aid wells and piped water in backward countries.

On October 25 the Hamiota Ladies Legion met in the Community Room with 16 members present. Vice President Lorraine Miller opened the meeting. Minutes were read and adopted, treasurer reported. Plans were made for a tea and bake sale to raise funds by selling grocery hamper tickets. Lunch and a social hour followed.

Manitoba Veterinary Drug Centre sales soar as funding grows
Manitoba farmers rally to the Veterinary Drug Centre with projected year sales of 835000, up 280000 from last year. Agriculture Minister Sam Uskiw says an extra 335000 will be provided to boost drug stocks, with a five percent centre markup and volume discounts driving savings. The unit opened in 1974 to offer cheaper veterinary drugs through bulk purchasing. Also noted is the McConnell 4 H Beef Club meeting with officers named and upcoming events including a November 27 pot luck and calf tagging plans.

Figure Skaters Reorganize For 1976 77 Season
Hamiota Figure Skating Club held a reorganization meeting on October 29 with four members present. Due to low attendance no concrete resolutions were made. A possible rise in registration fees to ten dollars for all ages was discussed as CFSA has increased its price to three dollars per member. A further meeting was arranged to ensure adequate representation before the registration date.
