C A S Plan Annual Drive Hamiota Meeting Report
The Children's Aid Society held its annual meeting in the Community Room on Thursday October 14. President Shorty Turner led the session as plans for the charity concert and sale were laid out. Mrs Luther Johnston volunteered to supervise candy sales and a new two year committee including Mesdames Fran Davison Hope Meakin Wilma Beil and Nancy Fogarty was formed to run the concert. Discussion favored selling home cooking cream and chickens as the most profitable items.

Plans for a W I Rally on October 19 with guest speaker Mrs. Myrtle White of Oak River and slides from Oslo Norway were announced. Committees to be named later for the Smorgasbord. Lunch was served.

Art Club Opens Season In Hamiota
The Art Club began its 71 72 season with the first class on Wednesday October 13 from 7 30 to 9 30 pm. Two still life settings were arranged by Mrs J Lawson and members sketched in charcoal. A large crowd gathered October 4 at Isabella Community Centre for a miscellan eous shower for Mr and Mrs Tim Nichol. Sylvia and Tim’s mother were presented corsages as gifts were given by a group of girls. Tim thanked friends and invited them to visit in Birtle after the wedding. Tim and Sylvia Nichol wed in Birtle Anglican Church on September 25.

Oak River W I Holds October Meeting With Plans
The regular monthly meeting of the Oak River Women’s Institute was chaired by Mrs. Wm. Hedley on October 7. Members planned attendance at Live In Gimili and a W I Rally in Kent, plus a Red Cross Convention in Winnipeg. A $15 donation to the Upland Cemetery project was announced, followed by a discussion led by Rev. Ed Jarvis and Rev. Roger Lowe on friendship.
