A 40th anniversary roast beef banquet in the Hamiota Community Centre honored Neb and Kay Curll on October 1 1983. Neighbors, family and friends attended a program with tributes and entertainment from local performers and groups. Donations to the Hamiota District Health Centre Respiratory Therapy Fund reached 933 dollars.

Senior Craft Group Plans Winter Activity in Hamiota
The Thursday Senior Craft Group at Park Residence in Hamiota began winter activities with preparations for the November 10 Christmas Bazaar Tea and Home Baking Sale. Led by two volunteers, the group invites displays and demonstrations, with proceeds supporting a Centennial Project Special School Awards for every grade.

Bridal couple feted in Oak River shower
A social shower for John Day and Margaret Sagert was held in Oak River lower church hall on Friday September 30 1983. Darlene and Allan Ried led the couple to center while a Bee themed gifts wagon and late gifts were presented by Cub leaders Rev Tom and Evelyn Delgaty and Jamie Henry. The event featured songs and humorous skits and ended with lunch and thanks. The wedding is set for October 8 in Minitonas Manitoba.

Hamiota Ceramic Club Holds Fall Meeting
The Hamiota Ceramic Club met at the Hamiota Elementary School Library on September 28. Classes start October 17 with sessions on Monday afternoon and evening and Wednesday evening October 19. New members may call 764-2871 or 764-2062 for details. Workshops on techniques were planned and Centennial Year celebrations were discussed.

The Miniota Merry 4-Hers held a reorganizational meeting on September 26 adding 5 new members to reach 17. Crandall W I Meeting Plans Old Time Dance
Crandall W I held its October 5 meeting with good attendance. A motion to sponsor an Old Time Dance on October 14 was approved. Most future meetings will be afternoon with some evenings as needed. The group will collect for United Appeal and assist Birch Lodge Tea in November. Mr and Mrs Stewart Steele Erickson shared a Caribbean Cruise talk on the ship Norway, the world’s largest at the time with 2300 passengers and 800 crew. Mrs Evelyn Delgaty praised the presentation. The evening ended with lunch and social time.

Hamiota Band Committee Forms Plans For Parade And Concert
The Hamiota Band Committee held a meeting at Hamiota Collegiate on October 4 with ten members. They invite all past Band participants to attend a parade on Fair Day and a concert, with social time for those unable to march. The Elementary Band has 19 students and Collegiate 27.
