Government Assistance Session in Virden for Small Business
An information session for potential small business owners will be held at the Virden Elks Hall on Wednesday October 25 1978 at 7 00 p m. Organized by the Management Services Department of the Federal Business Development Bank with the Virden Chamber of Commerce the event is part of a series of nationwide sessions to explain federal government financial and non financial aid programs. The Bank also offers a pamphlet series Minding Your Own Business a quarterly Small Business News bulletin and three main activities Financial Services Management Training and Management Counselling including advisory services by retired executives at nominal rates.

Shower Held for Debbie Armstrong at Cardale Arena
A Halloween themed miscellaneous shower honored Miss Debbie Armstrong on October 6 1978 at the Cardale Arena. Attendees included her mother Diana Armstrong groom's mother Eileen Paterson and grandmothers Stan Neal and M Allen with Lena Armstrong unable to attend. Cherri Stephens gave the address and Nancy Peters led a quiz style entertainment. The bride thanked guests for gifts and attendance as a lunch was served.

Garnet Knight Captures Five Canadian Fiddle Titles
Garnet Knight of Hamiota wins five Canadian titles after placing first in the Junior competition at Swift Current Saskatchewan earning 50 dollars and a trophy. He also won the youngest contestant trophy at age 12. Previously crowned in Swift Current last year and later in Plumoner Minnesota he collects five titles and 27 trophies overall.

First Month At Hamiota Nursery School
The first month at Hamiota Nursery School brought excitement and enjoyment for all children. Activities included finger plays games songs crafts with brushes and sponges straw bead making paper bag turkeys and flannel board work. Children are adjusting well to a loosely structured play environment.

Hobby Market A Success in Cardale Area Rink Event
The Hobby Market at Cardale rink on Monday October 2 drew thirty four tables from Winnipeg Brandon Souris Valley Oakner Cadarcis Rossburn Strathclair Shoal Lake Rivers Newdale Oak River Waskada and Cardale. Rollingdale collected about 700 dollars while the Women’s Institute and Senior Citizens earned 183.25 and 210 dollars respectively. Prizes included Panda Fern Pudding Rose Bowl Corncopia Planter Beads and a vase won by local residents. A ceramics raffle yielded a hen and rooster won by Addie Peter and a vase by Mrs Wyatt Cardale. A quilt and a doll raffled by Senior Citizens went to Edna McDonald Basswood and Lois Kerr. A large crowd enjoyed lunch served by rink volunteers. The CMIB appeals for support to aid blind Manitobans in rehabilitation and basic living skills, with canvassing led by Hamiota Lions Club during October 18th period 1978.
