Susan Louise Eddie five month old daughter of Mr and Mrs Robert R Eddie of Tsawwassen B C was baptized September 24 1967 at St H elens Anglican Church Vancouver with Canon J Winfield Robinson officiating The family resides in the Hamiota area where Mrs Eddie is known as Helen Heffernan The heirloom baptismal gown from England was worn by Susan Louise Her grandfather Wilfrid H Heffernan was christened with the same gown and later worn by Mrs Eddie at her own christening A reception for relatives and friends followed at the Heffernan home Mrs E M Sutherland of Hamiota attended as a great great aunt during a Vancouver visit en route home from a four week stay with the Sheardons in Torrance California.

Decker W I met on Wednesday October 4 at Mrs A Matchchuck s home with 12 members and 2 visitors present. The president opened with a thought for the day and the W I Creed. Minutes were read and approved. A bazaar was decided. Musgrove as Red Cross Convenor handed sewing and yarn for knitting. Runchey gave the hospital report and donations were given to Muscular Dystrophy District Hospital and Peace Garden project. District Board report Delbrige. FWIC news program material for November distributed. Members to attend Rally at Cardale on October 11. Meeting adjourned and tea served.
An obituary tribute from The Hamiota and District Citizens honors the doctor’s wife for lifelong service. She answered the phone from dawn to night, cared for her family, and supported her husband through loss with unwavering strength. God took her home after a quiet, peaceful life.
Oak River 4 H members and leaders met October 5 at the Elementary School for a home economics session. Ten youths and six leaders attended with plans to tour knitting factory and Mental Hospital in Brandon, finalize tea and bake sale, and switch monthly meetings to the first Thursday.
A buffet trousseau tea was hosted at Mrs Lou White’s home on September 24 in honor of her daughter Betty. Mrs Harvey Gray and Mrs N Jones aunt and grandmother of the bride poured tea in the afternoon and evening. Several friends aided and Miss Francis Mathison managed the guest book.
The Decker CGIT met in the church basement on Wednesday September 29 led by Mrs G Decker and Mrs L Stewart. Officers elected include President Patricia Musgrove Vice Beverly Brooks Secretary Debby Sunley Treasurer Linda Sunley Press Reporter Beverley Brooks. The group planned church decorations for Thanksgiving Sunday and set a next meeting for Tuesday evening October 10.
A Saturday afternoon shower in the Decker Church basement honored Mrs. Percy Pierce of Winnipeg, a recent bride. Miss Jo-Anne Decker played music. gifts were presented by relatives and friends as a tractor drew a decorated trailer in. Sheila Pierce thanked guests, and a lunch followed with contests hosted by the committee.
The McConnell 4-H Beef Club met October 9 at the McConnell Community Hall with Ag Rep Mr. Wendell Wight present. Three new members joined and officers were elected for the year. Plans include an annual banquet and monthly meetings on the second Tuesday at 7 30 p.m. in the Community Hall.
