Mrs Janet Whyte 81 dies in Brandon after long Manitoba years

Mrs Janet Whyte aged 81 died in Brandon on Sunday after a life spanning Ontario to Manitoba. Born October 1886 in Farquhar Ontario she moved with husband William Whyte to Decker Manitoba in 1915. later retired to Hamiota 1942 and lived there 15 years. Funeral at McConnell's Ham iodta September 27 with Rev Ralph Clark officiating. interment in Hamiota family plot. Survived by two sons J Lindsay Bruce W and daughter Beatrice McIntosh all of Brandon. seven grandchildren and one great grandchild. Brothers William Kay London Ontario Edmund Kay Port Arthur Ontario Thomas predeceased May this year.

Birdtail River School Division No. 38 trustees met at Shoal Lake on September 28 1967 at 8 00 p m with Superintendent Wm C Davison present. Walter Weir announced at the Manitoba Progressive Conservative convention in Winnipeg that he seeks the party leadership. The Minnedosa funeral director turned politician has represented Minnedosa since 1959 and held municipal affairs, public works, and highways portfolios from 1961 to 1966, resigning public works after the 1966 election.

Beef Club Closes Year With Final McConnell 4H Meeting

The McConnell 4H Beef Club held its final 1966 67 meeting on September 28 in McConnell Hall. With McConnell School closed, future meetings will cost 4 dollars at McConnell Hall. A possible University of Manitoba tour was discussed with Miniota Beef Club. A scrapbook contest will award a prize at the next meeting. The Green Record Sheets were completed by all members signaling a successful year. A reorganization meeting is set for October 3 in McConnell Hall.
