Oak River 4-H Elects New Officers at September Meeting

Oak River 4-H Club held an organizational meeting on September 18 electing Sherri Brown as president Marnie Henry as vice president Tammy Turnbull as secretary Tara McTavish as treasurer and Gordon Gerrard as club reporter. Members chose projects including Woodworking Foods Crafts Sewing and Exploring 4-H for the year.

Mobile Bake Sale to Benefit Hamiota Sports Complex

A mobile bake sale is planned for Friday October 13 at 1 00 p m with all proceeds going to the Hamiota and District Sports Complex Volunteers will operate vans on each street and a downtown van for out of town buyers Items can be donated at the Rink Club Room between 8 30 a m and noon The event asks for diet friendly labeled items and no pre sales. past sales highlighted high demand for pies breads buns and regional specialties Contacts Doreen Mennie and Norma Sheardown for details

Household Hazard Waste Day opens in Hamiota

On Wednesday October 4 1989 Hamiota and surrounding area launch Household Hazardous Waste Day and a Recycling Depot at the Fire Hall and Redfern's Feed-Rite Shed from 12 noon to 6 pm Residents urged to bring household hazardous wastes and recyclables to the designated locations for disposal and collection activities sponsored by the Hazardous Waste Management Corporation and local Recycling Group.

9th Annual Terry Fox Run in Hamiota Success

Hamiota hosted the 9th annual Terry Fox Run for cancer research with 35 participants in walk, bike, and jog formats. Pledges surpassed $1200 with additional gifts expected. volunteers including Dorothy Campbell, Evie Strachan, Vaughn and Frances Wilson, T.O. Sedgwick, Dennis Robinson and John Guilfoyle were thanked for their day of support. Contributions accepted at the Royal Bank by October 13, 1989, or through Vaughn Wilson at the Health Centre through October 13, 1989.
