Welcoming Night Honors 74 newcomers in Hamiota
A November 17 event sponsored by the Hamiota Business Club and the Rural and Town Council celebrated 74 newcomers to the district. 133 guests signed the guest book as draws for gift certificates and gifts donated by local business people were held during the evening. Music was provided by Mrs. Vi Smith with help from Brian Foxton, Michael Prawdzik and Phillip Dixon.

Senior Craft Group Bazaar Celebrates Fifth Anniversary
The Thursday Senior Craft Group in Hamiota marks its fifth anniversary with a successful bazaar. Mayor Rankin opened the event, the Hospital Auxiliary served tea, and bake and craft tables drew strong crowds. A quilt raffle and wall hanging prizes entertained attendees while raising 1011.90 after expenses, with a 1000 cheque to the Community Centre Committee for hall improvements.

DECKER Decker Legion 239 observed Remembrance Day on November 11 with full attendance. The parade of the color party, RCMP color cues, and an Honor Roll read by Ruth Rockley and George Davis highlighted those who died in the wars and those who passed since. Wreath laid by Bob Brooks followed by lunch social. talks covered Dieppe anniversary in August with Doug Johnstone and attendees including Bob and Marjory Brooks.

Retirement Honored Arthur L Dixon at Hamiota Supper
On Saturday November 13 Manitoba Crop Insurance Corporation staff supper honored Arthur L Dixon and his family on his retirement. The event concluded with a Come and Go Tea attended by former employees relatives and friends of the Dixon family. An enjoyable time was had by all.

Grace Rebekah Lodge 70th Anniversary Celebration
HAMIOTA residents marked the Grace Rebekah Lodge 70th anniversary with a July fair parade float theme, prize winning committee work, and an anniversary cake. The October meeting featured a Halloween theme, visitors in costume, a 35 year jewel presentation to six members, ghost stories, square dancing, and a lunch with cake and ice cream.

Oak River United Church Women met in the church on Tuesday November 9 with 12 members present Jean Hutchings chaired the session which opened with a unity pledge and readings Audry Griffiths led devotion from the Stewardship topic Reports were given by treasurer and others Explorers and Messenger Groups began their year long programs The Christmas Youth Service is planned for Sunday December 12 New clothing shipments were sent to Rev Grieves at Oxford House and boxes to U S C Winnipeg An electric stove was bought for the manse and lights installed in the garage The group will cater a Banquet November 1 and approved donations of 50 each to P C T C St Andrews College and Native Bursary Fund The annual meeting is set for January 4 1983 at 2 pm in the church.

Miniota 4-H Sets Fun Fair Date at Community Centre
At the third meeting on November 9 4 H members planned the Fun Fair for November 26 at 7 30 p.m. in the Community Centre. They attended the Remembrance Day Service as part of the day’s activities.
