Report From Ottawa by Hon. Charlie Mayer Minister of Wheat Board

Over seventy farmers gathered in Ottawa to convey CFA concerns to the federal government. The CFA pressed four points on credit, emergency planning, trade and research as Prime Minister Mulroney and about twenty ministers heard the call. The speech highlighted agriculture’s $40 billion impact, export strength, and shifts in incomes and productivity, with notable gains in GNP, employment, and housing in 1984 to 1985, plus Manitoba’s upbeat small-business outlook and job gains.
