Fine Arts Festival Held in Hamiota
The Fall session of the Birdtail River Fine Arts Festival ran November 4 to 7 in Hamiota with Jim Belford and Judy Acheson adjudicating dance and speech sections. About 50 group entries and 160 individual entries included school items, a new poetry segment, and new trophies. Awards covered speech, poetry, choir, and scholarships, with a spring session planned for May in Hamiota.

Zion United Church 60th Anniversary Celebration in Cardale
A crowd of about 140 gathered Oct 26 to celebrate Zion United Church in Cardale marking 60 years. Rev Cliff Pendlebury delivered a Hebrews 13:7-17 message. Roy Espey was honored, and Marion McRae sang How Great Thou Art. Choirs performed, gifts were given, and former members sent good wishes. Lunch followed as memories were shared and gratitude expressed.

WI Meet Hamiota Community Room Session
The WI met in the Community Room with 18 members present. Mrs. Morris chaired and opened with an Institute Ode and a quotation on kindness. Treasurer Mrs. Hazlewood reported 91.42 dollars. Red Cross work included 100 boys pants sewn and 32 afghans. A 65th anniversary committee was formed. Mrs. Grey spoke on the Live In leadership school in Brandon. Meeting closed with a benediction.

Ladies Club Meeting in November Honors Remembrance Day
The November meeting of the Ladies Club convened November 13 at Mildred Hazlewood's home with 12 members. Pearl Kidd led a Remembrance Day themed worship and officers for 1976-77 were elected including President Marlene Andrew and Treasurer Janelle Houck. A Get Well card was sent for Maureen Hazlewood and a luncheon closed the afternoon.
