Manitoba Alberta study finds no deficit in Crow's Nest grain rate
The Manitoba and Alberta provinces submitted a year long cost analysis to the Royal Commission on Transportation in Ottawa, arguing that Crow's Nest Pass grain rates do not impose a burden on rail traffic or the CPR. They contend CPR cost allocations overstate grain costs and counter the deficit claim with evidence of substantial overstatements. Hon. Gurney Evans called the study a disproval of the railways' case.
