Shower Honors Missard Parker Bride Elect

A miscellaneous shower was held at McConnell Community Centre for Missard Parker, bride elect of November 1 1975. Carol Parker thanked guests and invited them to the Strathclair open dance after the wedding. Lunch followed a gift opening and a “The Wedding” contest entertained attendees.

Sod Turned For New Seedcleaning Plant In Rivers Manitoba

Industry minister Len Evans chaired the sod turning for Farmers' Co-op Seedcleaning Plant in Rivers Manitoba. The $635000, 7000 square foot facility on Second Ave Last will double production capacity and serve seeds across Canada with eight current staff and up to fifteen during peak season.

Shower for Miss Karen Espey in Oak River United Church

An October 18 Oak River United Church shower honored Miss Karen Espey. Guests included the bride’s escorts, mothers, and grandmother. Former students performed a musical program and gifts were carried in. The bride plans to reside in Birtle after the event.

Anniversary Celebration for Bob and Edna Sunley

A Sunday anniversary supper honored Bob and Edna Sunley on their 25th wedding anniversary. Family and friends from Winnipeg and High Bluff attended. The event featured a gift opening, singing, a toast by Murray Gregory, and a blessing by Lyle Sunley, followed by a decorated cake, an open house, and a community gift of a walnut plaque and ash tray lamp. The couple were thanked for a moving evening and gifted matching luggage for a Hawaii trip in February.

Ladies Legion Auxiliary Meets in Hamiota

The Ladies Legion Auxiliary held a meeting in the Community Room on Tuesday evening October 28 with 21 members present. Minutes were read, financials reported, and donations approved to the Blind and the Unitary Society. Eileen Brown joined from Gladstone Auxiliary and Bernice Vincent was installed. A Remembrance Day poppy drive was planned with a service gathering in the United Church lobby at 11:00 a.m.
