Kenton Teacher Wins Education Gold Medal at Manitoba
Mrs. E. M. Vance of Kenton Collegiate earned the University Gold Medal in the Education course at the University of Manitoba with an 82.4 percent average. Manitoba University president Dr. H. H. Saunderson presented the honor at the 1967 commencement at Brandon College on May 27. Principal A. W. Robertson of Hamiota Collegiate also earned his Education degree in the convocation.

Convocation Honors 108 Outside Students at U of Saskatchewan
The University of Saskatchewan conferred 1 307 degrees at its centennial convocation in Saskatoon on May 24 and 25. One hundred eight graduates hailed from outside Saskatchewan including 23 from Alberta and 20 from Manitoba.

Pioneer Rust Fighter To Be Honored
The late M. S. J. McMurachy of Strathclair will have a cairn at the Municipal Hall Grounds to memorialize his role in developing McMurachy wheat, a genetic ancestor of Selkirk and Manitou wheat. Donations to the cairn fund are being received, with committee members listed as W. S. May, Gordon Graham, R. Parker, H. Morton, A. Allen, and M. Findlay.

Couple Honored Before Moving to Winnipeg
Neighbors and friends gathered in Decker hall Saturday evening to honor Mr. and Mrs. Doug Johnstone and family before they depart the district for Winnipeg. A corsage and boutonniere were given and the couple were escorted to the front as Bill Delbridge delivered the address. Mrs. Shoemaker and Miss Nellie Yates presented a Walnut Coffee Table, table centre, and hand crochet centrepiece. Mrs. Johnstone received a WL pin from the W.I. in appreciation of her services.

Final Brandon College Commencement Sees Class Largest Yet
Brandon College held its 56th and final commencement on May 27 as Brandon University will open July 1. Hon. W. A. McKenzie urged a small but high quality university. Arts grads totaled 80, Science 54, with 2 music degrees and 5 Education degrees plus 16 Education certificates. Notables include Helen Murray of Hamiota, recipient of Arts and Gold Medal, and Deanna Dyck, Silver Medal in Geology.

The Hamiota Hospital District No. 7A Ladies Aid met Friday May 26 in the community room with 13 districts represented. Minutes read and adopted. Treasurer reports expenses $24.45 and a balance of $1703.27. Hospital board notes Admissions 69, babies 6, major 15, minor 15, outpatients 79. Next meeting will be a banquet at Oak River on June 23.

Beamish Robinson tie the knot in Winnipeg church ceremony
Lynne Anne Robinson and Ralph Beamish wed in a double ring service at McConnell United Church. Rev Holtzman officiated with Jim Emerson providing music and Fern Gumpf as soloist. The bride wore a lace over taffeta cage gown with a floral cascade bouquet. Guests included maid of honor Wes Gayle Taylor and attendants in blue organza.
