4 H Achievement Night in Hamiota Celebrates Youth Year
The 1985 Hamiota 4-H Club Achievement Night at Hamiota Elementary School Auditorium featured an International Youth Year theme. Cathy Steven chaired. events included O Canada, I’d Like To Teach The World To Sing, pledges, skits, and certificate ceremonies. Outstanding projects and leaders were recognized, with a 21 member enrollment and a closing grace.

Crop insurance gains reported in Manitoba 1985 rollout
Manitoba farmers enroll in the Crop Insurance program rising to more than 13 500 contracts in 1985, up 1 360 from 1984. Sixty two percent choose maximum coverage, with 30 percent at max last year. A new livestock feed security program has 1 400 contracts across 22 municipalities and payouts when hay yields fall below 70 percent of normal. Processing time reduced by 16.5 days.
