Ellen Milne reports Eric Brown and cousin Bob Turnbull of Thompson launching a business in the Purdy Garage at Oak River. Turnbull will handle mechanical work and appliance repairs while Brown runs a backhoe operation. Also, a correction notes the cancer canvass figure should read 448 dollars, not 428.
The Explorers held a bottle drive on Saturday May 7 and collected 86 dollars 65 cents. Thanks go to the supporters and to David Greenaway and Anne Rothnie who served the group. Welcome to Mr and Mrs W McCormick now living in the late Mrs Alex Stewarts home.

Don Mennie and Doreen Mennie with Elva Cochrane spend Mother’s Day with Maurice and Janet Cochrane of Neepawa. Jean Mathison and Peggy Framingham with relatives travel to Atikokan Ontario for the funeral of the late Mrs Bob Mathison on May 3. Sympathy extended to all relatives. Pastor Peter and Cicely Campbell of Edmonton visit Genungs. John Rankin involved in senior affairs nationally in Ottawa and Brandon May 2 and May 9, with MSOS Board Winnipeg May 11-13. Rankin attends Discover Choices meeting in Winnipeg May 3-4. Discover Choices is a new seniors program under Health and Welfare Canada launching in Manitoba and Saskatchewan in September 1988, with a TV series to introduce the program.
