Be cautious hiring a Canadian financial adviser for tax and plan help
The author urges thorough vetting of advisers, requests to see work and past plans, and a brief initial session to gauge competence. Seek references and referrals for executing the plan, insist on follow up, and beware sleazy brokers who push high commissions or home equity loans. Remain cautious about stocks, mutual funds, and debt, compare multiple opinions, and rely on common sense.
