Manitoba launches 44 Youth Job Centres across the province to provide summer job referrals. Mobile Bake Sale to fund raise for Hamiota rink complex
A community bake sale will travel door to door in Hamiota on May 28 1988 from 1 30 to 4 30 p m to raise money for a new sports complex. Volunteers collect baked goods at the old rink club room 10 a m to 1 p m that day.

Oak River 4-H Club hosts achievement night honors Mrs McKague
On April 15 the Oak River 4-H Club held an achievement night with 29 members displaying projects. Mrs Frances McKague was honored for 25 years as a leader, with former 4-Hers in attendance. Megan Forsyth Scott Henry and Marnie Henry and Carrie Ramsey spoke. Sherri Brown Trent Koscielny Darcy Heapy discussed an Open House Canada trip to Williams Lake B C. Sherri Brown and Darcy Heapy were chosen to display projects at Rally Day. Deanna Wilson and Trisha Peters modeled outfits. The evening ended with a cake cutting for Mrs McKague and lunch.

Oak River fund raising committee met April 14 1988. Audrey Coulson read last minutes and approval was moved. Treasurer Ivy Heapy reported 45081 13 raised to date and 700 from the Hamiota social. Norman Argue discussed Rinks history books to be sold at April 16 auction with student help. 11 books remain and a waiting list exists for truck raffle tickets. Lunch plans included 15 dozen hot dog buns 12 sandwich loaves with coffee donated by Red Carpet and Old Dutch chips.
