Mission Festival in Chumah Hall Draws Large Crowd
A capacity crowd attended the Mission Festival at Chumah Hall on Sunday afternoon May 7 with about 200 registering. Rev. Ratch Clark MC’d, Mrs. T. J. Strachan presiding. The program featured films, histories of pioneers, Centennial displays by local groups, and a Canadian lunch, showcasing community cooperation and visiting guests.

Councilor Nelson Kreager flew from Winnipeg on April 16 to Arnprior Ontario as a delegate to a four day Emergency Measures Organization College course. He then visited relatives in Ottawa Montreal Kingston and Toronto before returning to Expo for two days and driving home on May 3. He reported back to the EMO meeting held last Thursday.

Mabel Edith Viola Atkinson widow of Herbert Atkinson died in Brandon Sunday. Born in Exeter Ontario August 27 1879 she moved with her parents to Viola Dale now Hamiota McConnell district in 1880. She lived in Brandon since 1912 aside from two years in the United States. Survived by son Allan Brandon three grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Husband died in 1917 and son Merton in 1946.
