William T. Andrew Honored At Village Testimonial Dinner
A April 30 dinner in Chumah Hall Hamiota honored William T. Andrew for 40 years of service to the village and rural municipalities. Andrew served as secretary treasurer since 1929 and held roles in provincial municipal affairs and hospital associations. About 125 guests attended the event with tributes from officials and colleagues.

Variety Concert Shines at Oak River School
A successful Oak River Variety Concert Friday evening May 2 featured a one act Pig of my Dreams directed by Mrs. G. W. White with cast Dick Heapy Marlene Genung Alan Reid Lois Armstrong and Carold Downey. Local Birdtail Rivers Fine Arts Festival winners performed including choruses solo Linda D. Davidson spoken poetry Maxine Hutchings and more. Highland dancing pipe band organ numbers and junior choir performances capped the program before a capacity crowd.

Trustees of Birdtail River School Division No. 38 met at 8 00 p m to receive and file correspondence from MAST University of Manitoba and others. Actions included approving April 24 1969 minutes and reports, approving salary increases for Route 15 and Route 18 drivers, and requesting a stop sign and school zone markers near Chestnut Street. Meeting adjourned at 12 30 a m.

Launch Campaign for Birdtail Association Facility
The Birdtail Association for the Mentally Retarded seeks support to build a workshop and residence to provide help, training, and sheltered employment for those unable to work in the community. The Hamiota Lions Club canvass for the Crip pled Children’s Society raised more than 300 dollars. One hundred sixteen local residents contributed amounts from one to twenty five dollars. Letters were sent to Hamiota Oakner Pope Crandall Decker McConnell Isabella and Kenton.

Decker Curling Club Hosts Isabella Rink Challenge
The C.G.LT hosted a bonspiel on February 26 with Isabella rink invited to face three Decker rinks. Soup and sweets were served by local volunteers. Isabella won the challenge event and Debby Sunley placed first in the second event. Earlier events included a February 13 China film and an April 3 Easter Tea and Bake Sale. The April 15 meeting organized carnations for Mother's Day with help from Mrs. Russ Sunley.

Oakner U C W holds first evening meeting of the year on May 1 in the church. Mrs Routledge and Mrs Anderson lead devotional on Mothers Children and home. Mrs Lloyd Anderson presents the business portion. A Brandon Children’s Aid Society representative spoke with slides.
