The W I met at Mrs Inza Pollock s home on April 22 with six members present. The meeting opened with the W I creed minutes and treasurer s report. Requests were made to furnish coffee for the W I convention in Hamiota on May 13 and a roll call answered with favorite gadget. Mrs Litte won the monthly raffle. Mrs Gwen Hamilton spoke on cancer and lunch was served by Mrs Pollock after adjournment.

The Birdtail River School Division No. 38 board met April 24 1969 at 8:00 PM with trustees dman Waddell Falloon and Armitage present. Reports and motions covered minutes adoption finance offerings change orders for Hamiota Collegiate bylaw to acquire title and vehicle repairs transportation caretakers and investments in a 7 1 4 percent five year Royal Bank savings certificate. The board urged signed correspondence and adjourned to May 1 1969 at 8 PM.

Hamiota School Band performed at the Neepawa festival with Neepawa Senior Band taking first at 88 percent. St James Band followed at 87 percent and Hamiota at 86 percent. First-place individuals included da Brethour sax 81 percent and Ryan Davison trumpet 82 percent with Sally Robinson and Vaughn Wilson among performers.

Pioneer Day Observed by CARDALE W I for Seniors
CARDALE W I hosted a Pioneer Day at Emma Wiltsey's home on April 24 to honor citizens aged sixty five and over. Twenty two attended with Evelyn Cowan welcoming guests, Lil Espey reading The Corner Stone, and Aud rey Peters at the piano. Gwen McTavish dressed as an old time farmer delivering poems on pioneer farming and an old fashioned dance. Grace McTavish led a song contest. Ed Westbrooke and Stan Fortune won first prize for naming the most songs. Tables with lunch and chocolates at each plate. chocolates sent to those absent. T. R. Espey thanked the W I for the event.

U C W Meet CARDALE Honors Easter Theme
The U C W evening unit in Cardale gathered Monday April 21 with twenty three members. Mrs Pearl Eigtish led the opening Easter themed story and scripture was read by Mrs Edith Kerr. Mrs Fran Radcliff shared a Jesus Crucifixion story and prayer followed led by Mrs Joyce Espey. President Mrs Della Radcliffe presided over business. Members answered roll with favorite colors and hostesses Mrs Jean Fortune and Mrs Olga McTavish served lunch.

Golden Wedding Anniversary Observed for John and

New Health Unit Opens At Virden
A new 94000 dollar health unit office will be opened at Virden with official ceremonies at 2 p.m. Saturday. The one storey building beside Virden Hospital will serve rural municipalities Archie Pipestone Albert Sifton Blanchard Cameron Hamitoa Miniota and the towns of Hartney Oak Lake and Virden. The unit replaces the basement arrangement from 1951 and will host infant preschool clinics immunization prenatal classes health counselling and mental health services with staff including Dr. Gordon Fryer and five public health nurses.
