Theme of Annual Presbyterial Meeting at Miniota
The 10th annual Bir tle Presbyterial United Church Women met in Miniota on February 22 with the Africa themed afternoon session led by Mrs. Marilyn Huband from Winnipeg. She spoke on her Africa trip and the African Pac in studies, sharing Kenya experiences and urging Christian fellowship and aid. Officers for 1972 were elected including President Mrs. Frank Reid Isabella and Treasurer Mrs. Gordon Long Miniota, with various committee chairs named.

Hamiota Girls Basketball Nears Provincials After Win Streak
The Hamiota team rebounded from a slow Invitational to win 8 of 9 and claim the inter-division title by defeating Virden twice and the Zone by beating Russell. Barbara Daniel earned top average honors and faces possible final local appearances before provincials in Brandon March 16 to 18.

UCW Meeting at Mrs. Brown’s House Reports and Plans
The UCW met at Mrs. Wilf Brown’s home on Thursday March 2. Mrs. Russ Hunter and Mrs. Hudaterson led an Easter devotional program of prayers readings and hymns. Mrs. Charlie Knight chaired the business meeting with 14 members present. The group discussed the Minnesota meeting in February and planned the Johnson wedding reception in April. Lunch was provided by Mrs. George Hutching and Mrs. John Rankin.

World Day of Prayer Observed in Hamiota
World Day of Prayer on March 3 1972 brought together about eighty women from three local churches at Christ Church. The service featured Anglican organist Mrs M Pedlow United choir led by Mrs H Brooks and guest speaker Mrs A Russell plus others. The offering of 47.00 was sent to the Women's Inter-church Council of Canada.

The March meeting of the W I was held March 2 with President Mrs. W Heapy presiding. Plans were made for a Community Party in Memorial Hall on March 7 and Cancer Canvas events in town and country. The group voted 5 to the Oak River Agricultural Society and noted 21 paid members present.
