Family Aides Transform Lives in Western Manitoba
In Brandon and five rural communities, Family Aides guide struggling families by doing with them, not for them. Trained, discreet, and nonjudgmental, they provide friendship, child activities, cooking lessons, and help with housing, healthcare, and interviews, while preserving dignity and privacy. Since 1982, 63 families and 137 children have benefited. The coordinator, Lillian Cameron, says the program proves people can change when they help others.
