Kenton Club Salutes Mary Poppins Skaters Show
The Kenton Figure Skating Club staged Mary Poppins on February 22 with performances by Julie Evanson and many skaters including Adam Nicholls Steven Argue Jennifer Houston Amy Ellis Tracey Stewart and Cory Hunter. Virden Foxy Figures wowed with 24 skaters coached by Terry Renard and guests Amber Wright and Can Skate coaches Angela Bray and Nicole White.

Local Lions attend District 5M 13 Midwinter Convention
Local Lions from Hamiota and Swan River area attended the District 5M 13 Midwinter Convention in Swan River February 7 9 1986. Don Mennie was chosen Governor Elect for the coming year starting July 1 1986. The 1986 meeting marked Manitoba's district split into 5M 12 and 5M 13.

A well planned 80th birthday celebration was held for Maurice Genung at Pickwick's in Brandon on Sunday March 2. Family and friends attended including Dot Genung Murray Marlene Genung Gladys Burt Donald Genung and others who shared a meal and presented a decorated birthday cake. Maurice expressed thanks for the kind words and good wishes.

40th Anniversary Celebrated for Mabel and Harvey Espey
Ivydale Heapy organized a 40th anniversary event for Mabel and Harvey Espey of Rivers at Oak River Memorial Rink on Wednesday February 12. A six o clock dinner for 21 relatives and the wedding party followed by a pink white ruby themed setting, a three tier cake, toasts by Dick Heapy, and remarks by Art Espy and Bill Davidson. A Pollock orchestra provided music for a dance as about 100 guests attended. Attendees included Herb and Laura Steven and Doreen and Art Espey. several relatives could not attend including Dallas Espy in British Columbia and Allan Espy of Brandon.

A cribbage tourney on February 27 had 20 couples. Ruby Mathison and Roy Kerr posted the high score. Gladys Kirk placed second. winners head to Lenore district playoff March 3.
