Miniota Arena Celebrates 20 Years of Skating Heritage
The Miniota District Chamber of Commerce launched plans for a new skating rink in 1962 led by Russell Leland and Eric Hurlin. A 1965 pledge drive of 100 donors raised 15 000 dollars with Royal Bank backing and community volunteers funding construction which began in 1965 and culminated with a 1967 arena opening. A commemorative plaque honors committee members Coke Argue, Russell Leland, Keith Armitage, and C. M. Argue for turning a dream into reality through 1987.
