Health Centre Auxiliary meeting in Hamiota districts represented

The Hamiota and District Health Centre Auxiliary met February 27 with thirteen districts attending. Chair Gerogina Brown led with a daily thought and the meeting opened with the auxiliary prayer. Reports cover admissions, homecare, mobile meals, office visits, ambulance trips, and board actions.

Manitoba Declares March 2 to 8 1987 Energy Conservation Week

Energy and Mines Minister Wilson Parasiuk proclaims March 2 to 8 1987 as Energy Conservation Week in Manitoba. Manitoba repeats the yearly observance to promote energy saving techniques and awareness among residents. Organizers from Manitoba and Canada plan activities and distribute information on energy management. Funding is provided under the Canada Manitoba Conservation and Alternative Energy Agreement.

Miniota Alcohol and Drug Awareness Evening Hosted

The Miniota Home and School Association sponsored an Alcohol and Drug Awareness Evening on February 19 at 7 30 p.m. in the Miniota School. Airdrie Knight from Hamiota District Health Centre presented the film Soft as the Heart of a Child and Cst Barry Dalrymple spoke on Alcohol and the Law. A.A. and Alanon members answered questions as plans for a 5 6 lesson series in March were announced with Geraldine Guilfoyle and Knight to cover physical and social effects.

Lioness Club Formed in Hamiota and Area

A Lioness Club was formed in Hamiota on February 9 1987 at 7 30 p.m. in the Hamiota Community Room with representatives from Hamiota Oak River and Brandon. Several offices were selected and a March 9 meeting was scheduled. The group aims to further Community Betterment and invites interested individuals to join.

Decker Country Riders Hold Evening Meeting

The Decker Country Riders meet in the Decker United Church basement at 7:00 p.m. to discuss business and watch slides on speech making visual presentation and horse pitching. The next gathering is scheduled for March 4th at 7:00 p.m. in the same venue.

Prize winner in Royal Bank Junior Olympics at Miniota

Darren Everatt receives a Royal Bank Junior Olympics hat and Calculator Savings Account from Garry Everatt, Miniota Branch manager. He won in the special staff segment as his eligibility differed due to his father working for the bank. Gold winners earned jackets hats crests and $1,000 term deposits. The 1986 draw concluded but the Scholarship Contest continues with ribbons and crests for youth sports and culture. For info contact the Royal Bank or the Canadian Olympic Association.
