The Miniota 4-H Beef Club held its 11th Annual Achievement at the Miniota Rink on June 16. Judges were Jim MaCather of Virden for Little Beefers and Judging, and Morris Senkin of Cromer for other classes. ringman was Wilf Leland, M.C. John Patterson hosted, with Ken Pierce weighing calves and Sandra Armitage photographing.
The Hamiota Girl Guides report a busy spring with a May 9 tea and bake sale at Chumah Hall. They hosted a Brownies exchange in Rivers on May 14 and sent eight Brownies to a Manhattan Beach Ninette camp May 29 to 31, joining two hundred fellow Brownies. The June 9 Mother-Daughter Banquet honored leaders as Audrey Kirk ends her term. Carolyn Nesbit begins 1992 93. The Brownies wrapped the year with a Burlington Beach camp June 20 21, weather ideal until rain. Rangers and Pathfinders plan Spruce Woods Park camp early July and Carla Badger heads to Cape Canaveral Florida, while Chris Butler is an England camp alternate.
A June shower in Chumah Hall honored Suzie Routledge bride elect for September. Andrea Plante and Rachel Routledge escorted guests. Marilyn Anderson provided music. Marilyn McNaught and Meran Higgins kept guest book. School chums sang and noted Suzie life milestones. cake and gifts were presented. community gifts included pillows and brass items.
Pauline Campbell notes the Kenton recycle depot remains busy and urges improvements. Read the circular and posters from the RM. Jars with labels glued on should be sent to landfill if labels cannot be removed. Remove lids and discard plastic.
Oak River Agricultural Society prepares for its 100th annual fair on July 12 and 13 1992 featuring centennial events ceremonies and displays. Pony show pig scramble MGRA Heritage Classic approval show pancake breakfast parade pet show entertainment bingo rooster crowing contest goat milking display and junior exhibitions with 4H home living and school work plus an animal exhibit by Sandhill Exotics and a mini midway.
