Rollingdale Wins Medals at Provincial Special Olympics

Rollingdale participants at the Provincial Special Olympics in Winnipeg April 6 to 8 earned three medals. Allen Macaulay took gold in Masters Bowling, with August Franssen and Wilbert Buchanan earning silver. Ed Shaw coached the team at the University of Manitoba venue.

Golden Agers Hold Outdoor Meeting At Barrett Home

The Golden Age Club met June 19 at W. Barrett home on a sunny day. Evelyn Barrett read a Manitoba Senior Citizens Organization letter about the Peace Garden picnic on July 11. Members enjoyed birthday notices, a School Rhythm Band performance, Horseshoe and card games, prizes, tea, and a large lunch. about sixty attended, with visitors from afar.

Red Sox split last week's action with Neepawa defeat

On June 18 the visiting Neepawa Farmers fell 8-4 to the Hamiota Red Sox. Wes Coulson led with three singles while Labossiere Ibarra and Woods contributed two or one hits each. Trapp earned the win over 6 1/3 innings. Don Schmall took the loss. Hamiota then lost 8-5 to Dauphin as Huntze pitched well and Labossiere and Shindruk added multiple hits.

Bryan Foxton Chosen for International Aerospace Camp

Bryan Foxton of Hamiota has been selected for the second annual International Aerospace Camp at the University of North Dakota this July. The two week session covers flight theory, meteorology, navigation, and simulators plus possible hot air balloon flight under FAA supervision. Bryan, a Grade 10 student and Brandon Flying Club trainee, begins session July 21 to 31 and is one of 30 participants chosen from Manitoba and the fifty two states. Joan Foxton and the late Raymond Foxton are his parents.
