Hamiota Travelling Theatre Plans Road Tour
The Hamiota Half Ton Theatre Company, an Opportunities for Youth group, will tour southwestern Manitoba with a children's play and a musical titled 1 000 Pounds of Broadway. Five students from the Rural Group will join, with a first show in mid July in Hamiota and bookings already received in towns like Boissevain.

Band Has Busy Month in Hamiota Community
The Hamiota School Band enjoyed a busy month with a May 31 bake sale, a bottle drive, and a June 14 street concert raising about 300 dollars. Hospital Auxiliary Dinner Marks 25th Anniversary in 1960s

Mr and Mrs Roy Kirk were honored at a Come and Go tea on June 8 to mark their 40th wedding anniversary. About 85 guests attended at Delmar and Joan Kirk’s home despite unsettled weather. About 35 members plus visitors from Vird en and Oak River attended in Hamiota Community Hall. Mrs Henry Goertzen joined as new member. The sick visiting committee led by Mrs Rene Lepine served members and their families. A carload attended Newdale Lodge 60th anniversary. Plans for Morley House picnic in August and the Oddfellows and Rebekah Rally at Clear Lake on June 21-22 were made.

Legion Auxiliary Meeting Nears Summer Recess
Nine members attended the June Legion Auxiliary gathering with Merle Strachan presiding and Thelma Argue handling secretarial duties. Members canvassed for Crippled Children fund Heart fund and Salvation Army while the treasurer reported a healthy balance from the Bridgeman sale the bonspiel and coffee and donut sales at the Collegiate for the safety course. Five dollars was donated to the Agricultural Society for 4H prizes and twenty five dollars will assist furnishings at the Peace Gardens complex. The group urged grade eleven students who are children of Legion or Auxiliary members to apply for the Auxiliary Scholarship. Winnie McCallum lauded the rally at Shoal Lake Nora Knight won the cash door prize and members enjoyed a served lunch.
