Health Minister Larry Desjardins announced grants totaling 13 460 to support seniors services in Hamiota and Miniota. Funds will hire a community resource coordinator in Hamiota and a meals program coordinator in Miniota to help frail and at risk seniors maintain independent living with volunteer participation from the community.

Barretts Golden Agers Meet Under Maple Shade
Barretts host Golden Agers and visitors gathered under the large maple at the W.A. Barrett home on June 17. Birthday names for June were read, July birthdays added. Prizes awarded for flower guessing, elimination contests, bingo. Muriel Armitage and Jean Ewing placed second with 25. Evelyn Barrett read a Tom Rollo poem. Kyla Cornish sang from Mary Poppins, aided by her mother. Horseshoe winner was Wilf Hill. Guests served sandwiches, cake, ice cream, and strawberries.
