The Hamiota District Health Centre Auxiliary held its annual dinner on June 9 1987 at Decker with 77 guests. Pauline Campbell welcomed attendees as Sally Cunningham of the Canadian Mental Health Association spoke on stress and coping. The next meeting is scheduled for September 25 at 2:00 p.m.

A Winnipeg convention runs June 20–24, a golf tournament in Hamiota on June 15, and a Cenotaph dedication service June 14 at 2:00 p.m. Mae Taylor received a Past President’s pin and Betty White a 25 year pin. Grace McTavish won the petty fund. luncheon followed.

Kenton School Honors Volunteers At Year End Tea
Kenton School hosted a tea on June 9 to recognize volunteers who assisted with programs during the 1986 87 year. Students from kindergarten to grade five performed a short program of singing dancing recorders and choral speaking before volunteers were served tea and dainties prepared by pupils.

Rain dampens Hamiota bowling club fiftieth anniversary
Rain shortened the Hamiota Bowling Club invitational fiftieth anniversary events on June 10 1987. Teams from Birtle Brandon Kenton Oak River Rivers Strathclair Virden and Hamiota moved activities to the community centre with cards and table shuffle. The Senior Orchestra played as a former bowler's songs and a large supper followed. Myrtle Caldwell cut the anniversary cake with Gwen Douglas decorating it.
