Hamiota Parks Board eyes user pay plan for park upkeep
The Hamiota Municipal Park Board met June 8 1989 to discuss funding. Spring convention in Winnipeg selects District 2 leaders
The 1989 Spring Convention of the Association of Kinsmen and Kineties Clubs District 2 met June 13 in Winnipeg, sponsored by Transcona Kinsmen. Incoming governor Joe Newman of The Pas and vice governor Nick Beavington of Gladstone Kinsmen were elected, with Sheila Newman of The Pas named Kinette coordinator for 1989 1990. District 2 covers eight zones across Manitoba and northwestern Ontario. Zone 6 Kinsmen includes Boissevain to Neepawa. Zone 6 placed 4th in Cystic Fibrosis donations with 21,411 dollars, part of District 2's 200,185 dollar total for 1988-89 Kin year. Hamiota Club plans a further CF drive this year.

Foskett Named Marsha Morton Scholar for CF Research
Dr Kevin Foskett of Toronto’s Hospital for Sick Children is named the Marsha Morton Scholar by the Canadian Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. The three year award, with possible two year renewal, funds salary and research, honoring Marsha Morton, a CF patient.
