Health Centre Auxiliary holds May meeting in Hamiota
Hamiota District Health Centre Auxiliary met May 24 with 12 districts represented. President Jean Fortune chaired. Dorothy Hudson acted secretary. Grace Anderson reported 2272.07 on hand and Florence Nightingale Tea receipts of 640.20. A $50 donation to guest speaker Debbie Arsenault of the MS Society and two hospital beds valued about 1000 each were approved. Next meeting Sept 27 at 2 PM.

Rollingdale at Westman Special Olympics May 25 1985
Rollingdale Occupational Activity Center attended the Westman Regional Special Olympics in Brandon on Saturday May 25 1985. Ten trainees competed in bowling with August Franssen taking first in Heat II and Garry Nylen placing third in Male Masters Heat III. Non competitors enjoyed the Shrine Circus and a Keystone Centre dance.

Mites Take Shoal Lake Tournament Crown

Fourth Manitoba Conference on Aging Attended by Grant
Mrs Eileen Grant attended the Fourth Manitoba Conference on Aging held at the University of Manitoba May 21 to 24. The event, organized by Health Minister L L Desjardins, drew about 460 registered delegates with another 200 volunteers. Sessions covered topics from Public Trusteeship to Transportation Needs of the Elderly and Pensions and Income Security.

End of an Era in Hamiota Grain Facilities
On May 29 1985 Hamiota marked the end of its grain handling era as the last facility the Annex was demolished. Once seven facilities served area farmers, the closing of the railroad and now the Annex removal ends a century old skyline feature. Winnipeg Health Minister Larry Desjardins announced an additional 250 000 to be provided in 1985 86 for continued development of community health centres. He noted the 12 centres have diverse origins yet succeed in delivering programs tailored to local needs.
