Lenore W I Meet Discusses Plan for Municipality Map

Lenore W I met at Mrs Elgin Routledge's Kenton home with 13 members led by Mrs Howard Norek. They heard reports on treasurer card and hospital aid, named a volunteer committee, and approved a 50 allocation to Hamiota and Virden Hospitals plus planning for a municipality map project.

Brandon University Adds Three Four Year Degree Programs

Brandon University gains approval from Manitoba Universities Grants Commission to launch four year Bachelor of Arts and four year Bachelor of Science degrees and a Minor in Administrative Studies starting next fall. Deans Hordern and Letkeman cite parity with other universities and future post graduate and job opportunities. entry requirements include 90 completed credit hours and GPA 2.0 with department permission. President Perkins says the four year degree broadens student education and benefits eighties graduates entering graduate studies and employment.

Sod Turned for Brandon Senior Citizens Drop In Centre

Brandon officials joined Community Services and Corrections Minister Len Evans at a May 19 sod turning for a new $500 000 Brandon Senior Citizens Drop-In Centre. The facility on Lawson Lodge site near 8th Street and Princess Avenue will replace the Princess Park Towers centre. Construction contract awarded to E C Higgens and Sons for about $450 652. designed by G B R and Associates. total project cost about $500 000.

Hamiota Legion Auxiliary Meeting Held May 24 1983

The Hamiota Legion Auxiliary met with fifteen members present. Eileen Brown chaired the session as president, Francis Kirkpatrick read last minutes, Eva Lee sent a thank you card and cheque, Lorraine Miller won the Petty Fund, a luncheon followed, and the next meeting is scheduled for June 28 1983.

Miniota 4-H Calf Club Meets and Plans

The May 10th Miniota 4-H Calf Club meeting opened with the H pledge and roll call on breeds. Reports were given. trophy and display committees reported progress. The Achievement event is planned for July 13th and rally practices set for May 26th and 27th at noon. next meeting June 14th.
