Growth From Within Guides Small Town Development

At the Federation of Canadian Municipalities meeting in Quebec City delegates from 600 municipalities hear lessons in growth led by Henry Wiebe of Winkler and Diane Pelletier of Hawkesbury. Wiebe cites an eighty acre park, road improvements, a thriving 350 person Triple E plant and over sixty million in credit union assets as proof of local initiative. Pelletier stresses professional help, five year terms, and broad inclusion of surrounding areas. All speakers agree community development depends on local willingness to change.
