Miniota Field Day Highlights Soil Management Tour
On Wednesday June 16 1990 the Miniota Municipal Soil Management Association held a Field Day at the Miniota Municipal Office with Ag Rep John Patterson welcoming attendees. Manitoba Agriculture staff P F R A representatives led a farm tour examining weed control moisture effects on tree saplings and several plots including tillage seeding and a barley field with Flame Chlorosis. About 40 people joined a supper at Murray Bell farm followed by talks on Fall Trash Management and weed control. Banks and thanks were extended to supporters including John Patterson Mur ray and Ron Bell families.

Pollock's celebrate 50th wedding anniversary in Hamiota
A 50 year wedding anniversary for Don and Jean Pollock was held July 14 1990 at Hamiota Community Centre. The event featured family dinners readings songs and dance with 250 guests, tribute from an engraved plaque, a mural by Faye Hildebrand and performances by Sylvia Jennifer and the Harmony Music Makers.

Distance Education expands to satellite TV for Crandall area
Birdtail River School Division expands credit offerings via satellite fed television with Manitoba Distance Education support. Anick C1 satellite will carry Manitoba Educational Television courses to four high schools Crandall and surrounding area for high school credits and staff development.

Recycling update from Kenton volunteers
June was busy thanks to Ivan Butler supplying the vehicle and a great load. July saw Kenton Royal Canadian Legion with Johnnie Finnie providing the truck and help from Edmonton, Alberta. Containers are not sorted, please remove jar labels and lids, flatten cans and plastics to save space. volunteers ask for cooperation to keep the program going.
