Desjardins warns of rising mosquitoes and encephalitis risk
Manitoba Health Minister Desjardins cites Arbovirus Surveillance data showing high Culex Tarsalis mosquito counts across Winnipeg and other communities raising Western Equine Encephalitis risk. He urges personal protection measures including outdoor avoidance at dusk, long clothing, light colors, insect repellent, netting for infants, and screened doors and windows. The committee will continue monitoring and reporting updates.

4-H Royal Bank Interprovincial Exchange delegates visit
Dennis Lonsdale of Kenton is chosen as a delegate for the 4-H Royal Bank Interprovincial Exchange to visit a family in another province. The trip, sponsored by the bank for 21 years, includes touring the Royal Bank and Manitoba Legislative buildings, a riverboat cruise, and a return to Alberta.

Burlington Beach Association Meeting at Shoal Lake

Hamiota Receives Grant for Ice Rink Renovations
The Manitoba grant from Minister L L Desjardins provides Hamiota $2,000 to install plexiglas and repair the ice plant at the Hamiota rink complex. The Recreation Facilities 82 84 program funds on a cost shared basis for renovations to public recreation facilities to save energy and improve safety and usage.

50th Anniversary Celebrated for Archie and Hazel Black
On Saturday July 16 1983 Archie and Hazel Black marked their 50th anniversary with a come and go tea at Chumah Hall attended by 130 friends. The celebration featured a granting of a toast by their son Jim and messages from legislators and out of province guests.
