SHILOH The Fordyce family and relatives gathered July 2 to honor Albert and Jean Fordyce on their 40th wedding anniversary. A cocktail hour, outdoor smorgasbord, a family composed address, rose presentations to grandchildren, engraved goblets, champagne, and a cake-cutting marked the celebration.

Rural libraries gain higher operating grants in Manitoba

Manitoba Cultural Affairs Minister Kostyra announced a three part operating grant formula for 1983 rural libraries. The basic grant rises to 3.50 per capita, an equalization grant to cover shortfalls under 3.50, and an incentive grant up to 1.00 per capita for above 1.35 mills. Establishment grants of 5000 per joining municipality and population definition updates accompany the revision.

Manitoba Jobs Fund allocates 7 million for municipal works

Winnipeg reports the Manitoba Jobs Fund commits 7 million to a municipal works program announced by Premier Howard Pawley at the Canadian Construction Association convention. Details due by August 1 and will enable cost shared bridge work street construction municipal asset repairs and select sewer and water projects with equal matching funds from municipalities.
