Hamiota Fair Hosts Fundraiser Events for New Complex
At the 1988 Hamiota Fair Sports Day and Pioneer Reunion the Fundraising Committee will run a Dunk Tank to dunk local dignitaries, sell tickets for two draws, and auction a four percent month old Apaloosa Filly. The Cash Draw offers 200 first prize, 100 second, 50 third. Windfall Draw nets monthly 50 cash plus bonus draws in 1988 and 1989. Tickets are 50 cents or 3 for $1, with a 25 dollar Windfall entry limited to 200 tickets. Proceeds support the Hamiota and District Sports Complex.

The Ladies Auxiliary to Legion Branch 174 met at President Maxine Cumming’s home with 24 members attending. Frances Kirkpatrick read minutes and correspondence. Maud Bryant reported $1,186.50 raised for the Salvation Army and the Petty Fund was won by Maud Bryant. A golf-tournament fellowship was noted and a grocery hamper raffle is planned for Fair Day with tickets sold 1:00 to 6:00 p.m. Lunch followed. next meeting is in September.

Oak River Rink Sod Turning Marks New Building
A June 21 1988 ceremony at Oak River Rink marked official sod turning for a new rink complex. Officials including Jim Forsyth Helen Cantelon Harold Griffiths Ian Bobiak Ted Coulson and Reeve Harvey English spoke or participated. Ted Coulson turned the sod with a golden spade as teens sold fundraiser buttons and early sweepstakes winners were announced.

Manitoba Increases Mobile Home Loan Guarantee Program

Donors Choice Meeting Sets Hamiota Campaign Dates
The June 13, 1988 Donors Choice meeting in Hamiota chaired by Eleanor Sedgwick approved a 1989 campaign from March 15 to April 15.
