Hamiota Squirts season ends with league win
Hamiota Squirts under twelve girls wrapped up their season at Oak River on July 1. They posted an eight win loss record in the South half of the Mermaid League, with only loss to Oak River. They claimed Shoal Lake Cardale and their own tournament titles, while Decker Tournament gave them a prior loss. Playoffs at Decker culminated in a Hamiota victory. After the game players from Hamiota Elementary School celebrated with a weiner roast.

Waste Committee will not handle radioactive or explosive wastes. such tasks fall to the federal government. Data collection and local discussion will take several months with regular public updates. No final proposal will be made without resident support. If the study shows a good site and strong local interest, a municipal consensus decision will guide next steps and environmental review. Aunt Jessie Mitchell Laurence of Winnipeg moves into an apartment in Virden after two weeks with Danny and Debbie O Connor. Ray O Connor is a patient in Virden Hospital. Vernon Lockhart broke his hip on Sunday June 18 and has transferred to Hamiota Hospital. Donna Bonner and Georgina Gardham joined Kevin Bonner and Nelson Moorhead for a weekend trip to The Pas. Donna attended a surprise party for Virginia Lyons and Georgina visited Janice and Murray Carnegie. Elsie Stowe's graduation was celebrated. Edna Brown remains a patient in Hamiota Hospital. Shelley Gardham resumes work at the Royal Bank in Hamiota for three weeks. Edna Leland joined Vicki Bryant for a short visit to Redvers. Sympathy extended to the Charlie Bryant family on Charlie's death June 29.
