Hazardous Waste Advisory Committee Formed in Hamiota
The RM of Hamiota and Village councils approve a Community Advisory Committee to work with Manitoba Hazardous Waste Management Corporation on potential siting of a hazardous waste facility. The group will develop terms of reference, review data, hold public sessions, and ensure local concerns are included in the evaluation over several months with first public meetings planned after mid July.

Hamiota Happenings Thankful Weekend Reunion Visits
Leslie and Diane Ranking joined Gertrude and John Rankin for a weekend in June. Carl and Mary Sue Larsen of North Vancouver visited Ada Baxter and the Campbells, with Jim and Edith Thickett from Russell joining the Larsen party. Bill and Mae Taylor returned from Cold Lake Alberta after the 419 Moose Squadron reunion on June 21 25 where the squadron received its own colour standard. About 800 veterans attended and a Colours Reunion Dinner followed. Grace was offered by Padre J P Lardie, with Hon Davie Fulton among speakers. Cold Lake 300 km northeast of Edmonton. Jeff and Cheryl Sheardown and boys from Tumbler Ridge BC holidaying with Ross and Norma Sheardown. Rene and Dot Lepine recently completed a three week Yukon and Northwest Territories motor trip via the Dempster Highway to Inuvik 4068 miles one way of gravel. They advise against driving when wet and replaced two tires on the return. Charlie and Isabel Harrison of Kamloops visited Tom and Peggy Stewart and others in the district including Mrs Finkbeiner's 100th Birthday.
